Peter Swiderski for Village Mayor
PETER SWIDERSKI is in his fourth term as Mayor of Hastings, after serving three terms as a village trustee. Peter and his wife Tracy have lived in Hastings for nearly twenty years. Tracy is head teacher and assistant director at Temple Beth Shalom Nursery School. They have two children who attended the Hastings school system from kindergarten through graduation.
Peter is an executive with a 33-year distinguished career in finance and technology. He currently manages several Bank of New York Mellon regulatory programs responding to systemic risk. For five years, Peter served as a director at the Financial Services Volunteer Corps, an international, not-for-profit firm that improves financial systems in developing countries. Working with former Secretary of State Cyrus Vance, Peter hired and managed an international staff delivering technical assistance in Eastern Europe.
Peter earned a Masters degree in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and undergraduate degrees in political science and IT from NYU. He is the acting treasurer for an organization that benefits blind and disabled adults and children in Poland. Peter has also been active in the local Democratic committee.
Dan Lemons for Village Trustee
DANIEL LEMONS was elected to his first term as Village Trustee in 2015. He and his wife Mary have raised three children during their twenty-six years in Hastings. They have 3 grandchildren.
Dan has been a university biology professor and dean for 30 years. While at CUNY and City College, Dan oversaw multi-million dollar budgets and led strategic planning. He worked successfully with the Manhattan Borough President, members of the New York City Council and the NY State Legislature, gaining their support for technology projects and programs. He established and oversaw construction of CCNY’s satellite campus in Manhattan’s financial district, enabling the project to be completed in an unprecedented nine months. Dan currently manages a multi-state commercial real estate business. He has a PhD from Columbia University and an undergraduate degree from Goshen College.
On the Hastings Board of Trustees, Dan has focused on energy and sustainability and is the trustee liaison to the Conservation Commission. He was the project lead for Solarize Hastings-Dobbs Ferry, which resulted in the quadrupling of Hastings residential solar installations in 2016. He’s played a key role in the innovative deer immunocontraception program in Hastings, organizing the volunteer effort. Dan was a leader in the community effort to pass a school bond that resulted in natural grass being installed at Reynolds Field.
Marc Leaf for Village Trustee
MARC LEAF is a native son of Hastings, with a long record of service to the Hastings community. Marc has been married to Debra Oaks for 23 years. Their children attended Hastings public schools.
Marc has been a practicing attorney for more than 30 years and is a partner in the New York office of Drinker Biddle & Reath, LLP. Many of his clients are in the technology-media-telecommunications sector. From 2011 to 2014, Marc served on the Executive Staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. He is an experienced and practical dealmaker and a trusted counselor and adviser to senior government officials, corporate boards and independent directors. Marc is a graduate of Hastings High School, Harvard College and the Duke University School of Law.
Marc has served several terms on the Village Zoning Board of Appeals, giving him an appreciation for the important role that Village government can play to help promote economic vitality while preserving the character of the community. He is a long-time Trustee of Temple Beth Shalom, where he currently holds the office of First Vice President. He also belongs to the Southside Social and Athletic Club.
